Mrs. Hilda Upton's Obituary
Mrs. Hilda (Medema) Upton, age 97, went to be with her Savior on December 4, 2013. She was born to Harry and Lena (Vander Kooi) Medema in Muskegon, MI on February 1, 1916 in the home her father built. Hilda was a life-long resident of Muskegon and a member of Unity Reformed Church. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1934. On September 26, 1939, Hilda married James C. “Bud” Upton and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1958. Hilda worked for Walter F. Valk, DDS for over 30 years. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Connie (Ronald) Brantman of Norton Shores; granddaughter, Lori (Steven) Anderson of Twin Lake; grandson, James (Julie) Brantman of Holton; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Anderson, Elizabeth (Corey) Frey, Michael Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, TJ (Crystal) Brantman, David Boone and Jerry Boone; two great-great-grandsons; special niece, Kay (James) Sikkenga; great-niece, Kristi (Ken) Kriger and family and great-nephew, Doug (Tania) Hoover and family. In addition to her husband, Hilda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Ed Cooper. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Friday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Kyle DeYoung officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
