Howard Emil Briske's Obituary
Mr. Howard Emil Briske, age 88, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019. He was born in Arcadia, Michigan on July 11, 1931 and was raised by his aunt and uncle, Martha and William Schimke. Howard was a veteran of the Army National Guard and had served from 1948-1960. He had owned Howard Briske Painting for over 50 years. Howard was a very talented residential painter and was well-respected throughout the painting industry. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as Elder, Trustee, and sang in the choir. Howard cherished his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his church. He is survived by his children, Sharon Auw, Julie (Brian) Anderson, Lori (Bruce) Wathen, and Jeffrey Briske; his very dear girlfriend, Karen Pierce; seven grandchildren, Cole Tjapkes, Sheila Tjapkes, Jennifer (Randall) Becksvoort, Colin (Jennifer) Kingsbury, Samuel Wathen, Doug Briske, and Bryan Briske; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Cynthia) Briske; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving aunt and uncle, Martha and William Schimke; two sons-in-law, John Tjapkes and Rich Auw; one grandson, Dustin Tjapkes; five brothers and five sisters. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Friday, November 22, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 and from 10-11AM Saturday at Trinity Lutheran. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church (3225 Roosevelt Road, Muskegon, MI 49441) with Rev. Paul Appold officiating.
