Howard E. Camp's Obituary
Howard E. Camp, age 77, passed away Wednesday morning, June 4, 2014, at his home. He was born October 6, 1936 in Grand Haven, MI to Howard H. and Evelyn (Beamer) Camp; and was a 1955 graduate of Grand Haven High School. He has resided most of his life in the Muskegon area; and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1953–1961. Howard’s professional career was in Information Systems at Hackley Hospital and then at Bil-Mar Foods, prior to his retirement. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and of the Muskegon Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He operated his Ham Radio, making friends around the world participating with Civil Defense, under his call handles of “NT8Q” and later “W8HEC”. On October 16, 1959 he married the former Patricia J. Walsh; and she survives him along with 2 sons, James H. (Heidi) Camp of Texas and Jeffrey A. (Donna) Camp of Maine; 2 grandchildren, Molly Paige Camp and Donald Jeffrey Camp; 2 brothers, Melvin (Sharon) Camp of Grand Haven and Ronald (Francine) Camp of Ohio; 2 sisters, Kathleen Holmberg and Phyllis Bolle both of Grand Haven; several nieces and nephews, Greg (Mary) Camp of Grand Haven, Dawn (Tim) Camp-Holland of SD, David (Lori)Camp of NC, Jason (Jennifer) Holmberg and Todd (Suzanna) Holmberg of Salt Lake City, UT; 2 brothers-in-law, Vince (Kie) Walsh and James Walsh of Chicago and by 1 sister-in-law, Helen (Bob) Personius of Venice, FL. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Helen Walsh Brandenburg and sister-in-law, Lola Walsh-Anacker. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100).
