Howard W. Daugherty's Obituary
Howard W. Daugherty, age 81, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at Medilodge of the Shore in Grand Haven. He was born October 11, 1940 in Detroit, MI to Howard C. and Agnes (Burns) Daugherty. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on a submarine 1958-1962. He married Ione R. St. Andre on March 17, 1977 in Wyandotte, MI and she survives him. Howard worked as a Police Officer for the City of Detroit for 25 years and retired in 1994. He then worked as a School Bus Driver for the Grand Haven Public Schools in his retirement years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and trips to the casino. Howard especially enjoyed camping trips with his family. He is survived by loving wife, Ione Daugherty; 3 children, Patricia (Bill) Treece, Charles (Kristin) Babcock, Sean Daugherty; 6 grandchildren, Crystyl (Garrett Gelfund) Babcock, Finn (Roxy) Treece, William Treece, Michael Romanko, Joseph (Ashley) Babcock, Haley Babcock; his first great-grandbaby on the way; 1 sister, Lucy Leppek. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2022 followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. A luncheon will be served immediately following the services in The Lee Family Center. Military Honors will be conducted at a private burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
