Mr. Howard G. Hakken's Obituary
Mr. Howard G. Hakken, 91 peacefully passed away late Sunday evening, August 28th, 2016, in Muskegon. He was born November 30, 1924 to Tonie and Nellie (Jobse) Hakken in Grand Rapids and lived in Ann Arbor for many years. He lived in Harbor Springs as well as Grand Rapids before moving to Muskegon. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a dive bomber pilot. He was the University Architect for the University of Michigan for several years before going into his own practice. He is survived by his wife Judith (Melpolder) and 7 children, Joel (Wendy) Hakken, Eric (Christine) Hakken, Jon Hakken, Jed Hakken, Richard Goossen, Laurel Goossen and David Robinson; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial celebration of his life will be planned at a date later to be announced. Arrangements by The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565.
