Howard "Howie" H. Bredin's Obituary
Mr. Howard H. “Howie” Bredin Jr. passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 in Muskegon. Howard was born on March 4, 1931 to Howard and Marie (Van Maastricht) Bredin and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. He was an Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War. On July 12, 1952 he married Carolyn Cooper in Muskegon. Howard was a teacher at Reeths-Puffer School for 32 years prior to retiring in 1991, taught driver’s training for 30 years and also taught at M.C.C. and the Muskegon Correctional Facility. He was a member of Unity United Methodist Church for many years where he served as treasurer. Howard was a member of Old Newsies for 14 years, a basketball official and avid Reeths-Puffer sports fan. SURVIVORS include his children, Jim (Nancy) Bredin, Scott (Terry) Bredin and Pam (Jim) Schnarre Bredin; 8 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; brothers, Albert “Bill” Bredin, Robert Bredin and many nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn; and his sister, Alberdena Hooker. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1pm Saturday, February 13, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Pastor Ron Worley officiating. VISITATION will be 6-8pm Friday evening at the funeral home and also one hour prior the service.
