Mr. Howard E. Jones' Obituary
Mr. Howard Ernest Jones, age 80, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on September 12, 1934 to Harry F. and Marguerite D. (Field) Jones and was a life resident of the area. Howard was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School, attended and played basketball at Muskegon Community College and graduated from Muskegon Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Howard worked as the chief draftsman for Genzink Steel in Holland, MI before his retirement and had previously been employed by Muskegon Steel Fabricating. He was a member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an elder and cadet counselor. Howard enjoyed playing golf, reading and was a past member of the Muskegon Shuffleboard Club and the Hi-Nabors Square Dancers. Most importantly, Howard loved his family. On September 23, 1955, Howard married the former Frances J. Tjapkes in Muskegon and she survives him along with two children, Dennis C. Jones of Fruitport and Kathlyn R. (Donald) Sexton of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth A. Jones; his parents; three brothers, Franklin, Martin, and Burton Jones; and two sisters, Abigail Jones and Harriet Eckerman. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Fruitport CRC with Rev. Robert A. Pohler, Rev. Jerry Postema, and granddaughter, Kelli Sexton officiating. VISITATION with his family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fruitport Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to Fruitport CRC or Harbor Hospice.
