Howard Kott's Obituary
Howard Kott, age 46, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 20, 2020 in Fruitport, Michigan. He was born June 13, 1974 in Muskegon to Edwin and Raené (Cosens) Kott. Howard was an exceptionally proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served 27 years. He served in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan during the Global War on Terrorism, specifically Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Desert Storm. Howard was awarded a Bronze Star of Honor, among other decorations for his many dedicated years of service and was honorably discharged. He was a hero and worked in The Civil Affairs Division of the U.S. Army. Howard was an Army Recruiter in California and Michigan and was active with the ROTC and a member of the Muskegon 180th Transportation Company. He most recently worked as a technician for DTE in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Howard was a committed and loyal son, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his country and was a huge University of Michigan fan having also served with the U of M Event Staff for years. Some of his interests included welding and owning HK Designs & Fabrication. Howard also enjoyed nature and hunting, riding his Ducati motorcycle and participating in 5k runs and marathons. He was proud of his FJ Cruiser. Also, he enjoyed skateboarding, riding his mountain bike, traveling, and most importantly spending time with his family. Survivors include his three daughters, Katelyn M. (fiancé, Brent LaBranche) Kott, Tiffany E. Kott, Alexis N. Kott; his two grandchildren, Dahlia-Mae and LaBranche and Owen LaBranche; and his father, Edwin L. Kott. He was preceded in death by his mother, Raené J. Kott. Howard was a great man, who made everyone laugh, stood up for what he believed in, and will be missed by all who knew him. As he would say, “GO BLUE!” A Graveside Service will Full Military Honors will be held 11:11AM Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Lakeshore Cemetery in Grand Haven with Rev. Dr. William J. Rudd officiating and Honor Guard provided by the Michigan Army National Guard and the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
