Howard J. Van Dahm's Obituary
Howard J. Van Dahm, age 86, passed away Monday evening, February 20, 2017 in Illinois. He was born November 19, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Sarah (Toren) Van Dahm. Howard attended Hope College and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had worked for Shaw Walker for over 40 years before retiring and in his spare time, enjoyed woodworking. On September 1, 1954, he married the former Margaret A. Alber in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2012. Howard had been an active member of Unity Reformed Church prior to his health declining. SURVIVORS include his son, Gregory (Sara) Van Dahm of Schaumberg, IL; 2 grandchildren: Melissa (Caleb) Mushynski and Joshua Van Dahm; brother, Thomas (Lois) Van Dahm of Kenosha, WI; and sister, Eleanore Hoffman of Holland. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jon B. Van Dahm on December 5, 2004, and sister, Doris Worthy. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2017 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, with Rev. James Bos officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
