Mr. Howard E. Youngstrom's Obituary
Mr. Howard Earl Youngstrom, age 91, wonderful husband, step-father, and grandfather, passed away Thursday morning, January 9, 2014. He was born April 19, 1922 in Blue Island, IL to Axel and Dagmar (Stolhammer) Youngstrom. Howard was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #9. He worked for Hunter Hughes for 40 years before retiring in 1991. Howard was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved to cultivate a nice garden every year. On May 18, 1987 he married Josephine Smith in Muskegon and she survives him along with 3 step-children, Duane Smith, Vickie (Martin) Welbes, Brian (Julie) Smith all of Muskegon; 5 grandsons, Christopher, Aaron, Nathan, Cody, and Caleb Smith; 4 brothers, Robert (Rose) Youngstrom of Bay City, MI, Ervin (Kelli) Youngstrom, Thomas (Nancy) Youngstrom both of Hart, MI, and Roy Youngstrom of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his first spouse, Katherine (Porth) Youngstrom in 1984 and a brother, Clifford Youngstrom. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff of Heartland-Knollview/Hospice for all their years of caring. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church – Marian Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the St. Francis de Sales Church Fund or Heartland Hospice will be appreciated.
