Howard I. "Bud" Metz's Obituary
Mr. Howard I. “Bud” Metz, age 60, passed away Thursday morning, September 16, 2004 at his home. He was born October 19, 1943 to Francis “Howard” and Henrietta (Hoeker) Metz in Muskegon and was a life resident. Mr. Metz was in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, was employed for 20 years by Heyboer Excavating as a truck driver, and prior to that had worked for Scholton Trucking. Bud enjoyed hunting, camping, going to the family cabin, two-tracking, snowplowing, calling and visiting his friends, and helping others. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Hope Reformed Church of Grand Haven. On February 7, 1976, he married the former Lori Reenders, and she survives him along with 3 children, Brenda (Keith) Grant, Brian (Nancy) Metz, Annette (Todd) Fowler all of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Kevin Grant, Christopher Grant, Lauren Fowler; and awaiting the new arrival of grandson, Logan Fowler; 2 brothers, Roger (Elaine) Metz, Wayne (Shirley) Metz; 1 sister, Nancy Metz; his father and mother-in-law, Ken and Shirley Reenders; grandfather, James Luurtsema; Aunt Kitty and Uncle Fred Metz; Aunt Geneva Leonard; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Dorothy Updyke; and 4 brothers, John, Bob, Marvin, and Lyle Metz. A service will be held 1 PM Monday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210, with Pastor Arnold VanBeek officiating. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
