Hugh Edward Buck's Obituary
Hugh Edward Buck, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Ferrysburg, MI. He was born May 31, 1947, in Columbus, OH, to John E. and Dorothy (Fay) Buck. He graduated from Pleasant View High School in Columbus, OH and then joined the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War as a Prop Specialist for the KC 130. On August 26, 1967, he married Therese Anne Lagemen, and they were able to spend 57 wonderful years together. Hugh worked for the Department of Defense for over 28 years as a Quality Control Specialist.
Hugh’s life took him from his hometown of Columbus to Cleveland, to Grand Rapids and finally to Ferrysburg. He enjoyed fishing, cooking out and playing the ukulele. He was also an avid baseball and football fan. Hugh was a member of the Charles A. Conklin #28 American Legion Post and parishioner of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven, MI. Hugh was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Therese; children, Phillip Edward (Janie) Buck of Morley, John Hugh Buck of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Gina Bartos (David Hubbell) of Norton Shores; grandchildren, Joshua (Morgan) Buck, Kathrine (Travis) Hartline, Brandon (Taylor) Buck, Jenna (Cade) Dyhr, Joshua Hershberger, Kiersten Moore (Ben Viereck), Anna Claire Hershberger (Dymitri Powell); great grandchildren, Hadley, Oliver, and Laynee Hartline, Braxton Powell, Ellie and Nina Dyhr; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John S. and Janice (Herrin) Buck; and great granddaughter, Liliana Noel Dyhr.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE, with Military Honors, will take place 11 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Veterans Memorial Park (3941 Grand Haven Rd., Norton Shores, MI 49441). A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will follow in The Escanaba room at Central Park Place (421 Columbus Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417) from 1-4 PM.
