Hugo J. Ferrari, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Hugo J. Ferrari, Sr., age 76, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2003 following a lengthy illness. He was born February 17, 1927 in Slickville, PA to Adam and Mary (Pretari) Ferrari and lived in the Muskegon area since 1969. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany in the 1st Division “Big Red 1” during WWII. On January 26, 1957, he married the former Julia L. Bonatesta in Barnesboro, PA. Prior to his retirement in June 1992, he worked as a manufacturing engineer for Howmet Corp. for 23 years. He previously worked as an engineer for TRW in Cleveland, OH for 15 years. Hugo was an active charter member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in North Muskegon where he served as past-chairman of the Parish Council, grounds and maintenance, usher, and supervised site preparation for numerous construction projects. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 8846. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Hugo J. Ferrari, Jr. of Muskegon, Richard (Lisa) Ferrari of Rio Rancho, NM, Jackie A. (David) Eberhart of Troy, MI, and Julie A. Ferrari of Muskegon; 4 sisters, Lena (John) Paronish of Akron, OH, Clara (Ernie) Stivanelli of Watkins, PA, Ann (Joe) Husser of Springdale, PA, Alvera Stratton of Baltimore, MD; 4 sisters-in-law, Mary Togni, Ida Pecenak, Rose (Leroy) Schilling, Ann (Nick Decarlo) Bonatesta; and several nieces and nephews. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 27, 2003, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Robert A. Hart presiding. INTERMENT will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION with Hugo’s family will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Sunday evening. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana or the Building Fund of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
