Ida E. "Liz" Terry's Obituary
Ida E. “Liz” Terry, age 84, met her Lord and Savior at home on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 8, 1938, to Lawrence and Mattie (Veal) Griggs in Muskegon, MI and has been a lifelong resident. She was a dedicated employee of General Electric, where she worked as a machine operator and welder for 15 years. In her earlier years, Liz also worked as a hall monitor for Muskegon Public Schools.
Ida met and married Henry Terry in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished over 60 years filled with endless love and laughter. With their union, three children, Berthetta “Birdie”, Daryl and Tonya were blessed unto this earth.
Liz had many talents, she was gifted in ceramics, gardening and sewing. She enjoyed finding a great deal thrifting, pressing her luck with the lotto, and listening to the Blues. Liz will be remembered most for her need for speed in her “stinkin’ Lincoln” and cussing like a sailor. She was a loving mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother, wonderful sister, and dear friend to many. Her feisty and tender-loving spirit will be truly missed by so many.
Liz is survived by her three children, Berthetta “Birdie” (Fernando) King, Daryl Terry and Tonya Bailey; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Huff, Daryl (Marta) Terry, Quinton Bailey and Johnathan (Staphine) Terry; 3 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Terry, Madeline Huff and Audrey Huff; and brother, John Griggs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mattie Griggs; husband, Henry Terry; son, Larry Terry; and brother, Thomas Griggs.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 with Pastor James Williams officiating. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
