Mrs. Ida "Idella" Ellen Bozik's Obituary
Ida “Idella” Ellen Bozik, named after her 2 grandmothers, Ida and Ellen, went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2013 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 89 years old. Idella was born on August 20, 1924 in Buckley, MI to John and Goldie Harkins. On April 15, 1944 she married Paul E. Bozik Sr. Together they were blessed with 5 children. Idella worked at Continental Motors and General Telephone in the early years, and then chose to stay home taking care of her children and her grandchildren. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she delivered communion to shut inns, a leader for Junior Catholic Daughters and Cub Scouts. She was also involved in Muskegon Catholic Central band parents and served as president. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, entertaining, cross-stitching, and painting. Idella was an optimistic, kind, helping, and strong-willed women of God who will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include her husband of 70 years, Paul E. Bozik Sr.; 5 children, Larry Bozik, Paul (Chris) Bozik Jr., Pat (Jim) Vendal, Debbie Bringedahl, and Steve (Brenda) Bozik; 12 Grandchildren, Danielle (Stan) Boykin, LeAnn (Dan) Szymanski, Rane’ (Roberto) Garcia, Nicole (Brian) Reed, Amber (Dean) Johnson, Jared (Megan) Vendal, Megan (Chris) Dana, Adam (Nicole) Bringedahl, Greg, Katie, Khrissy, and Abbie Bozik; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and one on the way. Brother, Don Harkins; sister, Judy (John) Miller; and special caregivers, Nikki, Amber, Charity and Tami. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ken and Dale Harkins; and sisters Shirley Brooks and Julia Harkins. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 E. Summit Ave, Muskegon Heights, with Father Norman Droski and Father Antony Britto officiating. VISITATION will be held on Thursday from 4-8 with a Rosary beginning at 6pm at The Lee Chapel 6291 S Harvey St. 231-798-1100. Memorial Contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Muskegon Right to Life.
