Idamae Stead's Obituary
Mrs. Idamae Stead, age 82, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at a local hospital. She was born July 12, 1932 in Flint, MI to the late Leonard and Bertha (Whitehead) Stokes. She was raised in Rothbury, MI and resided in Muskegon for most of her life. She was a Master Hairstylist at Peggy White Salons for over 30 years. She married James Stead in Lansing, MI on June 16, 1951. He survives her along with their children: Susan Kaye Stead, Karen (William) Burkett, Philip (Kathi) Stead; daughter-in-law, Brenda Stead; 1 brother, John (Nina) Stokes; 5 grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Johnson, Lori (Lance) Gosselin, Michael (Kate) Galarneau, Kara (Cody) VanDyke and Leonard Stead II; 8 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Bob and Carol Zorn. She was preceded in death by her son, Leonard in 2009. Idamae enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2014 with Pastor John Brown officiating at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Ferry Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Grace Hospice of Grand Rapids.
