Dear Aunt Jean, Debbie, Margie, Janet, and families, you have my deepest sympathy.
In life you learn from others and then pass on that knowledge. I was fortunate enough to observe Uncle Joe's passion and love for my Aunt Jean, his three beautiful daughters, baseball, golf, feeding the squirrels, and video photography. I truly enjoyed going into Uncle Joe's recreation room to watch his 35mm films of our family parties. After my son Kristopher was born, I purchased a VHS-C camcorder after remembering the lesson I learned from my Uncle Joe. I now have the precious memories of Kris growing up along with family gatherings. One day was very special. On July 4th, 1987, Deb and Bob had one of their annual parties. I clearly remember Uncle Joe doing a somersault into the pool with his clothes on to entertain the children. How they laughed!
A couple of years ago my neice Anna, was visiting us in Wisconsin. After spending the day at a local indoor water park with her sister Biz, Kris and their Aunt Joyce, Anna wanted to go back to the water park that evening. Since everyone was waterlogged, I took the opportunity to spend some quality one-on-one time with my neice. On the way back to the water park, Anna asked me if her dad was good at walking on his hands. Since she had very limited memories of her dad (my brother Ed that passed away when she was very young), it was now time to ask her, "Do you want to see him walk on his hands?" She replied, yes. When we returned from the water park, we went into the den where I was able to show her a computer file, Kris had converted from my old video tape. It was from the July 4th family gathering at Debbie and Bob's. Eddie, Bobby and myself, had a handwalking race in the backyard. Eddie was in his prime wrestling shape before his disease took its toll. Sharing this with Anna was priceless ... thanks to Uncle Joe!!!
Now for passing on the knowledge. When Kris went to Germany during high school, we purchased our first digital camera. He took over 1,600 pictures and was hooked! We later bought him his own digital camera with video capabilities. His Radio Controlled Air Plane skills have progressed to the point that he has been able to remotely control his camera on his hand made airplanes. His latest adventure involves putting a 10 meg digital camera on a plane to get fantastic pictures high over Madison, Wisconsin. Now he's taking high-definition videos flying through golf courses ... Uncle Joe would of loved it!!!##imported-begin##Dave Strach##imported-end##
