Ione E. (Krueger) Rahrig's Obituary
Ione E. (Krueger) Rahrig, age 87, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at her home. She was born October 2, 1932 in Grand Rapids, MI to Gustav and Anne (Mack) Krueger. She married Kenneth D. Rahrig in Muskegon on March 31, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2003. Ione worked many years as a legal secretary for several area law firms. She also worked as a bus driver for St. Francis de Sales Elementary School. She and Ken later owned and operated 3 antique stores which led to their final venture of owning Heritage Manor Inn Bed & Breakfast in Ganges, MI where she found great pleasure as the innkeeper. Ione was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud, MI but had attended the churches of her 12 children over the past 5 years while she visited them. Ione spent her later years taking pictures and putting together photo albums for her children and grandchildren which became her passion and purpose to preserve a legacy of memories for her family. Ione is survived by 12 children, Beth (Michael) LaFrance, Mark (Mary Ellen) Rahrig, Steve Rahrig, Mary (Wayne) Hill, Jim (Melody) Rahrig, Lynn (Dale) Pudell, Mathew (Janice) Rahrig, Craig Rahrig, Laurie (Phillip) Loew, Dan Rahrig, Willie (Kim) Rahrig, Dianne (Kenny) Sisson; 35 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Melvin Krueger; 1 sister-in-law, Esther Rahrig; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Rahrig; daughter-in-law, Annette Rahrig; her parents; sister, Diane O’Neal; brother-in-law, Tom Rahrig, and brother- and sister-in-law, Donald and Wilma Rahrig. The Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2020, followed by visitation 5:30-8:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will also be held one hour before the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated 11:30 AM Friday, February 7, 2020 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with the Rev. Msgr. R. Louis Stasker presiding. Interment will take place 11:30 AM Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in White Cloud, MI.
