Irene Emma Petersen Scott's Obituary
Irene Emma Petersen Scott, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 in Grand Haven. She was born on June 26, 1930 to George and Anna (Toth) Rostar in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Irene married Ronald Petersen on January 24, 1953 and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1978. Irene loved to cook and tole paint. She attended several exercise classes and was a puzzle master. She worked at Howmet Castings for 13 years. Irene served as a Union steward, enjoyed volunteering at Hackley Hospital and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a proud and doting mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her children, Sueann (Michael) Kiefer, Nancy (Stewart) Beardsley, Carol (Claude) Childers, Eric (Melissa) Petersen and Curt (Molly) Petersen; nine granddaughters and four grandsons; four great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons; one great great-granddaughter; siblings, George (Fran) Rostar, Jim (Linda) Rostar, Ed (Linda) Rostar and Sister Carmen Rostar; and brother-in-law, David Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, John, Margaret, Anna, Rosemary and Mary Jean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 11AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (150 E. Summit Ave., 49444). Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM, with the Rosary prayed at 10AM.
