Irene M. Sander's Obituary
Irene Marie Sander, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023. She was born January 30, 1933 in Muskegon to John and Tomasa (Garza) Belasco. On October 31, 1959, she married Don “Jim” Lowing and he preceded her in death in 1972. Irene was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She had worked several different vocations over the years, but she was most passionate about her volunteer work in the community. On June 2, 1984, she married Gerald “Jack” Sander in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include her husband, Jack; three daughters: Kelly Hayward, Laura (John) Karafa, and Leslie (Steve) Hoffman; stepdaughter, Tracy Weaver; stepdaughter-in-law, Sheri Sander all of Muskegon; three grandchildren: Trevor Lowing, Sam (Claire Dobra) Hayward, and Ryan McIntire; two step grandchildren: Colin Sander and Corey (Shayna) Sander; two brothers: William (Sandy) Belasco of E. Lansing and Richard (Debra) Belasco of Grand Rapids; sister, Clara Shaver of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don “Jim” Lowing; stepson, Jeffrey Sander; three brothers; and two sisters. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Monday, June 5, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100.
