Irene E. Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Irene E. (‘nee Anderson) Smith, age 99, passed away Tuesday morning, November 11, 2014 in Muskegon. She was born December 17, 1914 in Cadillac, MI to Carl and Anna Anderson; and has resided in the Muskegon area the past 78 years. Irene was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church, where she had formerly been a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Muskegon Rescue Mission Auxiliary. She was proud to be homemaker and a 20 year AVON representative. On November 23, 1939 she married Donald A. Smith and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl Elmer Anderson and 2 sisters, Selma Bloomquist and Edith Bobb. Irene and Don were long-time summer residents of Maranatha Bible & Missionary Conference. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Janet (Richard) Cummins of Fishers, IN and Gary D. Smith of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Cummins, Lori (Scott) Sinclair and Todd (Stacey) Cummins, Storme (Edward) Dunn, Heidi (Brandon) Fairfield and Jeremiah Smith; 8 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL SERVICES for Mrs. Smith will be held 11AM Monday, November 17, 2014, at Forest Park Covenant Church with the Rev. Wally Coots officiating. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION with Irene’s family will be 6-8PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 (231-759-8565).
