Mrs. Irene B. South's Obituary
Mrs. Irene B. L. South, 73, went to be with her Lord Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2016. She was born February 5, 1943 to Leo D. and Jeanne L. (Tissot) Hasker in Bethlehem, PA, and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. Irene worked for the MAISD for 25 years before retiring and was a member of the Abundant Life Church of God in Wyoming, MI. On August 25, 1962 she married Richard E. South. Irene enjoyed attending her grandkids athletic events, volunteering at DIBs on Resale, scrapbooking and having her family together. She is survived by her husband and best friend, along with their 3 children, Robin Lynn (Larry) Erdman of Montague, Rick (Chrissy) South of Wyoming, Roger (Lisa) South of Panama City, FL; 6 grandchildren, Andrew, Kati, Hannah, Jessica, Ashley and Joshua; her mother-in-law, Julia South; 2 sisters, Jan Basham and Clara (Bob) Harrell. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee, parents, stepfather, Vernon Basham, and 1 brother, Don Basham. The funeral service for Irene will be held Wednesday, June 1, at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with her son, Pastor Rick South officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday evening and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will take place at Restlawn Cemetery.
