Irene Zechlinski's Obituary
Mrs. Irene J. Zechlinski, age 94, passed away December 29, 2010, at a local care facility. She was born February 19, 1916 in Muskegon to Joseph and Anna (Wilant) Rajewski and had lived in this area her entire life. She was a graduate of Muskegon High School. On June 28, 1941, Irene married Edward Zechlinski at St. Michael Catholic Church in Muskegon. Edward preceded her in death on October 25, 1968. Irene was a homemaker for many years and later in life she worked for several years at Hulka’s Market. Irene was a lifetime member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She was very faithful to the church, her family, and her Polish Heritage. She enjoyed gardening and had been a wonderful caregiver to her father until his death at the age of 104. Irene is SURVIVED by her 6 children, Mary Ann (Tim) Bergevin of Kentwood, MI, James (Diane) Zechlinski of Fruitport, John (Pam) Zechlinski of Kohler, WI, Joann (Dan) Dobberstein of Saginaw, MI, Jeanette (Rick) Thompson of Grand Haven, and Ron Zechlinski of Gobles, MI; 8 grandchildren, Susan Stone, David Bergevin, Lisa Fowler, Joe Zechlinski, Brianne Zechlinski, Jason Dobberstein, Brent Thompson, and Alissa Thompson; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Ted (Lillian) Rajewski of Ocala, FL; a sister-in-law, Donnie Rajewski of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Laurel Zechlinski; a brother, Mitchell Rajewski; and a sister, Joanna Bray. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11AM Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Michael Catholic Church (1716 Sixth St.) with Rev. Fr Thomas J. Brown as presider. VISITATION will be Sunday afternoon from 2-5 PM at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with the rosary being prayed at 4:30 PM. Burial will be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Meals on Wheels program.
