Mrs. Irma M. Groeneveld's Obituary
Mrs. Irma Mae Groeneveld, age 100, passed away August 9, 2014 at Heartland Knollview in Muskegon. Irma was born in Manistee, MI on November 18, 1913 to William and Elizabeth (Grandjean) Derby, and came to Muskegon to study at Muskegon Business College. After graduation she worked at several well-known companies in Muskegon. She married Zager C. Groeneveld September 16, 1945 in Muskegon, and he died in 1977. Others who preceded her in death include her parents, a son-in-law, Richard Bisson, and eleven brothers and sisters. Irma was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church, and Vasa Lodge. HER SURVIVORS include a daughter, Mary Bisson, and son, Michael Groeneveld, both of Muskegon; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Marilyn (Derby) Orling who was a steady and tireless friend to Irma. The family also thanks the caring staff at Heartland Knollview for their compassionate care. VISITATION with Irma’s family will be 10-11 A.M. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Samuel Lutheran Church, 540 Houston Ave., followed by a MEMORIAL SERVICE at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Marcy Miller officiating. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to Samuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
