Isabelle Marie Place's Obituary
Mrs. Isabelle Marie Place, age 90, passed away Tuesday evening, January 19, 2010. She was born October 24, 1919 in Northland, MI to Louis and Verna (Vaver) Roberts and had lived in the Muskegon area since 1941. Mrs. Place owned and operated the Presto Lunch Restaurant in Grand Haven from 1956 to 1973, and then worked for the Muskegon Heights Public School system as a cook for 10 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, liked Polka dancing as well as country music, and also liked her four-legged canine friends. On October 3, 1942 she married Elmer E. Place in Muskegon and he preceded her in death in May of 1991. SURVIVORS include her partner of 18 years, Don Partlow; two children, Judy (Ivan) Ivanov, William (Shirley) Place both of Fayetteville, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Wellman of Escanaba, MI. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and four sisters. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS to the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated.
