Isabelle Rose Harris' Obituary
Mrs. Isabelle Rose Harris, age 98, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2011, at a local nursing home, surrounded by her family. Isabelle was born November 9, 1912 in Elbridge County, MI to William and Cora (Conrad) Shepherd. At the age of 10, she moved with her family to the Muskegon area and lived here the rest of her life. She received her education in the Muskegon Public Schools and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1930. On March 1, 1934 she married William Henry Harris in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2005. Isabelle was a charter member of Westwood Reformed Church and prior to that was a long time member of East Lawn Reformed Church. She was very active in her church throughout the years. She was a member of the calling committee, Ladies Aid, the prayer chain, as well as teaching Sunday School. Isabelle also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and rose gardening. She belonged to a bridge club for many years and enjoyed spending time with her family. Isabelle is survived by her 3 children, Dr. Richard (Joyce) Harris of Fruitport, Susanne J. (Richard) Borgeson of Muskegon, and Rosemary (Thomas) Dobb of Greenville, S. Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Voss of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband William, Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Elizabeth; 5 sisters; and a brother. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Westwood Reformed Church (3025 Glenside Blvd.) with Rev. Scott VanArendonk officiating. VISITATION will be one hour (10-11 AM) at the church. Interment will be made in Norton Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Westwood Reformed Church.
