Iva Rebecca Ogborn's Obituary
Mrs. Iva R. Ogborn, age 77, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 19, 2023. She was born on November 30, 1945 in Muskegon, Michigan to Estol and Iva (Giddings) Crabtree. She was the first born of eight Crabtree children. At the age of five, her Daddy took a job on the Grand Trunk Railroad as a switchman, so the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1960, Iva’s Daddy passed away from a brain aneurism. Her mother, devastated with eight children, decided to move back to Muskegon. Iva had to stay behind and live with friends, Eleanor and Herbie, until school got out for the summer. She then took the boat back home to be with the rest of the family at their Isabella homestead. The alley between Isabella and Catherine served a great purpose! At age 16, Iva met Ron Ogborn in that alley and they fell in love and were married from November 2, 1963 until Ron’s passing on October 21, 2007, 44 years later. Iva and Ron enjoyed their homestead on Holiday St. in Egelston Township. She loved visiting the casino, eating at restaurants, shopping, bingo, and going on vacation. Most importantly, she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought her joy and she was so proud of every one of them. Iva had the kindest heart with the smallest wallet. She was always there to help anyone who came to her. She was loyal to her family, a provider of solid advice, and was always wanting the best for those around her.
Iva will be sadly missed by her daughters, Rhonda (Robert) McIntire and Renee (Kevin) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Paul (Christina) McIntire, Malachi (Britney) McIntire, Alecia (Ryan) Johnson, Erin (Jacob) Holter, Jennifer (Adam) Schultz, Erica (Kim) Johnson, Jessica (TJ) VanderLaan, and Andrew (Meghan) Johnson; 27 great-grandchildren, Abagail, Hunter, Story, Hánna, Olivia, Nicholas, Johnny, Shiah, Scout, Kei, Elliott, Alexis, Isaac, Arley, Skylar, Claire, Iyla, Trevor, Dylan, Jaley, Kaden, Taelynn, Carson, Izabel, Otis, Asher, Annika, and baby Holter due in October; brothers, Estol (Mike) Crabtree and Edwin (Diane) Crabtree; sisters, Melinda (Ed) Miotke, Lorine (Ralph) Guzman, Paula Crabtree; siblings-in-law, Beth Ogborn, Barb (Terri) Ogborn, DeDe (Jim) Videtich, Kathy (Rob) Kibbey, and Scott (Diane) Ogborn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estol and Iva Crabtree; mother and father-in-law, Doris and Kenneth Ogborn; sister, Laura (Ed) Chvala; brother, Richard Crabtree; and brother-in-law, David Ogborn.
SERVICES for Iva will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 24, 2023 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 with Rev.
