Ivan D. Plichta's Obituary
Mr. Ivan D. Plichta, age 85, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at his home in Sullivan Township. He was born on October 30, 1931 in Muskegon to Steven and Estella (Poulson) Plichta and was a lifelong resident of the Muskegon area. He was a proud veteran and served his country in the United States Air Force. Ivan married the former Edith Meister in 1994. He worked as a repairman at the B.C. Cobb plant for over 22 years, prior to retiring in 1994. Before that he had worked as a milkman for Sanitary Dairy. Ivan was a member of Fruitport Congregational U.C.C., the American Legion and also the AFL-CIO. He was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed winters in Florida and gardening. SURVIVORS include his loving wife, Edith; children, Debra (Scott Sanders) Plichta and Tamara (Landon Shaw) Plichta; brothers, Steve Plichta, Ken (Donna) Plichta and Jerry (Bobbie) Plichta; sister, Carla (Bill) Southland. He is also survived by his good friends, Tony and Nancy Dunn. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne; brother, Vernon and his sister-in-law, Betty. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Fruitport Congregational U.C.C., 9 South Eighth St., Fruitport, with Pastor Kenneth Babcock officiating. VISITATION will take place 10-11 AM prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Fruitport Congregational U.C.C..
