J. Harley Boeve's Obituary
J. Harley Boeve, age 79, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026 at his home in Norton Shores. He was born January 15, 1947 to Justin and Henrietta (Wit) Boeve and lived all of his life in the area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Harley received his bachelor’s of automotive engineering from Ferris State University. He was the owner and operator of Port City Racecars for over 50 years retiring in 2020. Harley attended Nortonville Gospel Chapel and he had an extensive involvement in the racing community – including Berlin Raceway. Survivors include three sisters, Thelma Pierce, Kris (Randy) Arnson, LouAnn Freyling; and his nephew, Gene Michael Hoffman; his longtime companion, Maryanne Wheeler; his former spouse, Lynn Boeve; and two stepchildren, Lora and Bradley. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Justin Wyatt Pierce. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 4, 2026 at Nortonville Gospel Chapel, 14528 Leonard Road, Spring Lake, MI 49456, with Rev. Joe O’Neill officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Private family interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be made to Nortonville Gospel Chapel or Love In Action.
