I don't believe in god but you sound like you were truly amazing
Mr. King was one of my instructors at MCC fifty plus years ago. He was professional and yet friendly to all of us. He had a good balance of being fair and firm with us and all students getting something out of his classes.
One of my classes was a fall of 1970 Monday night physical ed at the exact same time that Monday Night Football started……..he let us start class early and still get our class time in before we all rushed home to watch to watch such an amazing event—football on Monday nights.
RIP Mr. King. I was sorry to read this. You were a class act.

Dawn and family, I am so grateful I had the opportunity to know J Paul. He always had interesting tidbits to share with me every time I cut his hair. And he loved his “Dawn” with his whole heart. My deepest sympathies to each of you!

I was not able to make it to the marriage of my sister, Dawn, and J, but eventually did get to meet him and spent some time with them. He seemed to be a very kind, intelligent man. But more importantly, he made the last 26 years exceedingly happy for my sister! I feel so grateful to him for that!
Rest in peace, J!

So let me tell y’all a little story about God.
My favorite thing to do at work is sit down with one of the residents and read the Bible to him and then we pray and we both say amen.
I’m getting ready to leave at 3 o’clock in the morning because somebody had called in so I stayed late. and I walked in his room to tell him I loved him and I’d see him tomorrow like I do every night before I leave (And he always responds “ok”)( before I got to his room I thought to myself man we been so busy tonight I didn’t get to read to him today. Oh well I guess I can do it tomorrow, but I had this feeling inside that I shouldn’t put it off.) disregarding the thought that I had. I proceeded to his room. I went in and told him “I love you. I’ll see you tomorrow.“ he said “ok”. I walked out of the room to go get my things and I got maybe 5 or 10 steps away and I heard him yelling. I went back to his room and I asked him “hey why are you yelling baby cakes”? He said “I was yelling for you”. I said “oh yeah, what was you yelling for me for”? he said “aren’t you going to read to me today”? My eyes immediately swelled up with tears. I told him “absolutely ! hold on. I’ll go get my Bible”. I grabbed my Bible and I read to him for 10 or 15 minutes. We prayed we both said amen and I looked at him and said (because I had already told him 20 minutes prior (( “I love you I’ll see you tomorrow”)), I said “OK I’ll be back in a couple hours” and went to walk away. He grabbed my hand and said to me “I love you. See you soon thank you”.
That might not mean much to many people, but to me it meant the world! God was reminding me to never be too busy to talk about him or read his word. And my resident showed me just how beautiful telling somebody they love you really is. 🩷🩷🩷🙌🏼
I pray the Lord lets you know that in the very short time I’ve known you; you have helped me more than I ever could have helped you Mr. King. I am so blessed to have known you. Rest in Heavenly peace Jay, love yuh my friend
One of the most influential person in my life. What an honor to have been one of the “Kingsmen” at Ainsworth in the 60’s. He will always be more than a memory to me. Because of his influence he will be a living presence.
Love ya, Coach
