Jace A. Baker's Obituary
Jace Austin Baker, age 28, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Grand Rapids, MI. Jace was born on April 26, 1995, to Joe and Gretchen (Hatfield) Baker in Muskegon, MI, where he lived his whole life. Jace was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was a firearms enthusiast. He loved riding motorcycles and playing his guitar. He had a mechanical mind and loved spending time working in the garage. He was good at taking things apart and putting them back together better than they were. More than anything, he was a family man and a hard-working father who always put everyone else before himself. He was a selfless friend who would help get you anything you needed before helping himself. Jace will be lovingly remembered by mother, Gretchen Baker; son, Avery Baker; fiancée, Haley VanHassel, and their baby on the way, Zander Baker; three brothers: Robert Baker, Sean (Donella) Baker, and Kirk Baker; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Jace was preceded in death by all four of his grandparents and his father, Joe Baker. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be taking place from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442. MILITARY HONORS for Jace will take place at 2:00 PM immediately following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable contribution to Bikers Against Child Abuse.
