Jacek Szeliga's Obituary
Jacek Szeliga, age 81, of West Olive passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at University of Michigan – Health West Hospital. He was born August 28, 1943, in Krakow, Poland, to Stanislaw and Aleksandra (Marosz) Szeliga. He married Krystyna Prorok on June 8, 1968, in Krakow, Poland.
Jacek graduated from the University of Jagielonski in Poland and trained to be an attorney. He worked as supervisor of quality control for Bucher Hydraulics (formerly Monarch Hydraulics in Grand Rapids) for twenty-five years, retiring in 2010. Jacek was a master craftsman in wood working, enjoying camping, collecting model cars, walking and biking. His most cherished time was spending it with family. He was a member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Parish.
Jacek is lovingly remembered by his wife, Krystyna Szeliga; his son, Przemyslaw “Stan” (Rhenn) Szeliga; two granddaughters, Sophia Szeliga and Kilian Roach; and his sister, Renata (Marek) Smochkiewicz. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Jolanta Marchela.
