Jack Merton Bos' Obituary
Jack Merton Bos, Sr., age 91, passed away on May 29, 2026, at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Residence in Muskegon, Michigan. Jack was born on April 13, 1935, to William and Minnie Bos in Muskegon, Michigan. Jack proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and later worked as a mechanical engineer for Shaw Box Crane. On January 4, 1955, Jack married Marilyn Jansen, and they spent 61 years together before she preceded him in death in 2016.
Jack was a friendly and active person who enjoyed being involved in his community. He was a member of VFW Post 2326 and the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post #28. He was an avid shooter and an active member of the Fox Lake Gun Club, the Twin Lake Gun Club, and the Muskegon Pistol Club. Jack also enjoyed woodworking and the time he spent riding his motorcycle across the country with Marilyn. Jack’s faith in Jesus was an important part of his life, and he was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven.
Jack is survived by his children, Pamela (Bryan) Archer, Jack (Debbie) Bos, and Carole (Gary) Bos-Dusterwinkle; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Laman; daughter-in-law, Petra Verwijs; and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Linda Bos; siblings, Jim (Genevieve) Bos, Bill (June) Bos, Trena (Gary) Medema, and Shirley Bos; and brother-in-law, Earl Laman.
A memorial service for Jack will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven, 508 Franklin Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions in Jack’s memory may be made to Harbor Hospice.
