Jack Joslyn's Obituary
Mr. Jack Joslyn, age 97, of Muskegon passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Sanctuary at the Oaks. He was born February 2, 1920 in Muskegon to Jack and Sylvia (Plew) Joslyn. On December 31, 1941 he married Evelyn Welkome in Muskegon.
Jack was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on many different committees for both churches. He served his country in WWII in the Air Force for 5 years and then continued in the Air Force Reserves for 26 years. Jack was a member of the Reeths - Puffer School Board for 18 years and served as president for 12 years. He also devoted over 50 years of his time to Muskegon Township, where he was an elected clerk, appointed to Board of Review, Planning Commission, Economic Development, and a charter member of the fire department as a volunteer for 11 years. His life was dedicated with love to his wife, his children, and their families.
He is survived by his wife of almost 76 years, Evelyn; three children: Gary (Donna) Joslyn of Goodyear, Arizona, Susan (Donald) Nielsen of North Muskegon and Jeffery (Kathleen) Joslyn of Twin Lake; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Barbara Richards; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip (Mary) Joslyn and Gene (Margaret) Joslyn; sisters, Loree (Jay) Berkema, and Nathalie (Ron) Whitsell; brother-in-law, William Richards.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 10, 2017 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Uetricht officiating.
