Mr. Jack M. Mead's Obituary
Mr. Jack M. Mead, age 52, passed away Friday morning, October 31, 2014. He was born March 30, 1962 in Muskegon to Jay “Frank” and Phyllis (Kammers) Mead. Jack was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran and attended All Shores Wesleyan Church in Spring Lake. He worked for Dick Bosma Construction Company for 7 years and Sun Chemical as a press operator for 5 years. Jack enjoyed riding and taking trips on his Harley Davidson and was a member of the Fruitport Eagles. On July 14, 1989 he married Sylvia Lynne VanderJagt in Spring Lake and she survives him along with 3 children: Drew Michael Mead of Roscommon, MI, Christopher (Jennifer) Blackmer of Grand Haven, Tracy (Derek) Simmonds of Deland, FL; 6 grandchildren: Christopher Dale (Jessica) Blackmer, Jorey Blackmer, Serisa Blackmer, Kailey Feguer, Derek Simmonds, Jr., Delaney Simmonds; great-grandson: Lucas Blackmer; 3 brothers: Joseph (Karen) Mead of Nunica, Jay A. (Karen) Mead of Muskegon, Jeff Mead of Pompano Beach, FL; 2 sisters: Judy (William) Mead-Schaub of Fruitport, Janet (Brian) Ashcraft of Grand Haven; mother-in-law: Anna VanderJagt of Nunica; many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and his best friend “Moe”. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Clayton Mead; step-daughter, Cherill Ann Blackmer; father, Jay “Frank” Mead; mother, Phyllis Uhan; and father-in-law, Leonard VanderJagt. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, November 6, 2014 at All Shores Wesleyan Church, 15550 Cleveland St., Spring Lake, MI 49456, with Pastor Joel Yoshonis officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS to the ASPCA.org or American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
