Jack Leroy Millis' Obituary
Jack Millis, age 84, who believed faithfully in the Lord, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on September 4, 1939, to Amherst and Katherine (Lee) Millis of Muskegon. Jack attended Muskegon Heights High School in the 1950s. Jack furthered his education by studying Arc Welding at Muskegon Community College, honing skills that would serve him throughout his life.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Anna (Smith) Millis, his daughter Jacki (Keith) Burns, son Terry Millis (Carol), grandsons Adam (Megan) Ingalls, Ryan Burns and granddaughter Kayla Burns, and four great-grandchildren, Josie, Olivia, Ellery and William. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents Amherst and Katherine (Lee) Millis, sister Rosemary (Bramer) Martinsen, and brother George Millis.
Jack dedicated 42 years of his life to Sealed Power/Dana before retiring. He was a proud member of Local 63 U.A.W. and served on the Norton Shores Fire Department for 4 years.
Jack had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved woodworking and spent many hours crafting beautiful pieces. Jack was skilled at working on cars and took great pride in his mechanical abilities.
Throughout his life, Jack found joy in the simple pleasures of spending time with loved ones and enjoying the outdoors. He loved playing cards and games on the computer. He had a deep love for his family and cherished every moment spent together, especially during vacations and family gatherings.
In addition to his accomplishments and hobbies, Jack was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and cherished his heritage. He enjoyed the excitement of visiting casinos and found joy in the thrill of gaming.
Jack was under the compassionate care of Harbor Hospice for nearly a year, where he received exceptional support from the extraordinary staff. Their dedication and kindness provided comfort and solace to Jack and his family during his illness.
Jack will be remembered for his kind heart, contagious sense of humor, strong work ethic, and his ability to find happiness in life's simple pleasures. His legacy of love and dedication to his family will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He cherished his close relatives and friends, finding joy in their company and the memories they shared.
At Jack's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
Rest peacefully, you will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew you.
