Mr. Jack Gerald Nummerdor I's Obituary
Mr. Jack G. Nummerdor I, age 78, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 24, 2012. He was born at his family farm in Muskegon Heights on September 19, 1934 to Weichman and Tena (Bly) Nummerdor and was a lifetime resident of the area. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was also involved with the Muskegon Eagles. On November 22, 1952, he married the former Patricia L. Black in Muskegon and she survives him. Jack worked for Highland Park Dairy as a delivery driver and later worked as a truck driver for Associated Truck Lines and retired in 1994 after 38 years. Jack was a member of Teamsters Local 406 and loved his 18-wheeler and his handle on the road “Flying Dutchman”. Jack and Pat spent many winters in Zephyrhills, FL, where they were active with the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a fan of Jeff Gordon, the Michigan Wolverines, and the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. Jack enjoyed camping, yard work, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially his visits with 2-year old granddaughter, Emme. SURVIVORS include his wife, Pat; 4 children, Brenda Gonzales, Jack (Laura) Nummerdor II, Kerri (Ron) Becklin, Jody (Michelle) Nummerdor; 7 grandchildren, Cory Gonzales, Brandon (Rachel) Becklin, Jordan (Christine) Becklin, Shealyn Zervas, Jack (Megan) Nummerdor III, Kali Nummerdor, Emersen Nummerdor; 7 great-grandchildren, Ezekyel, Yahir, Broton, Bella, Grady, Elli, and Charlotte; 4 brothers, Adrian (Roline) VanDop, Bill (Yvonne) VanDop, Hank (Carol) VanDop, John (Millie) Nummerdor; 1 sister, Cora Hendrick; and 1 sister-in-law, Mae Nummerdor. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Gonzales; his parents; 3 brothers, Art Nummerdor, Casey VanDop, Abraham VanDop; and 2 sisters, Tena Duncan and Jenny Mahn. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2012 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 with the Rev. Jim VanderMeiden officiating. Military Honors will be offered by the Honor Guard of VFW #446. VISITATION will be held 5-8 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Friday.
