Jack H. Rop's Obituary
Mr. Jack H. Rop, age 89, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at his home. Jack was born February 27, 1931 to John and Nellie (VanderWel) Rop in Muskegon and was a life resident. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War and had worked at Standard Automotive for 36 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, and anytime spent with family and friends. On March 23, 1957 Jack married Evelyn R. Dalman, and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2013. Survivors include 2 sons, Douglas (Vicki) Rop, Daniel (Jackie) Rop; 5 grandchildren, Jacob (Kandice) Vance, Jamie Bellinger, Amanda (Nick) Avery, Mandi Rop, Daniel (Jen) Rop; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Rev. John (Ellen) Rop; 2 sisters, Retha (Axel) Johnson and Julie Ruster. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Joni Lynn Rop; 2 sisters, Sandy (Dr. James) Cook and Frances (Harold) Soper; and one brother, Hugh (Joan) Rop. The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1206 Whitehall Rd., at 1:30 PM. Masks are required and seating for the service is limited. You can view the service on the church’s website. Burial will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mr. Rop may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
