Mr. Jack J. Rottman's Obituary
Mr. Jack J. Rottman, 87, passed away early Sunday morning, December 4, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born October 28, 1929 to John D. and Hattie (Ridderman) Rottman in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Jack worked for the United States Post Office as a mail carrier for 35 years, retiring in 1985, and was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church, and had been an active longtime member of the former East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and Cadet leader. Jack was also involved with Boys Club, the Friendship Program, and served on the boards of Western Michigan Christian High School and Christian Care. He loved to hunt and fish, and for 25 years was involved with the Tuesday night Jail Ministry in Muskegon. On April 9, 1955 Jack married Fredreka “Freddie” Roth, and she survives him along with 2 children, Dr. John (Marilyn) Rottman, Jane (Bill) Buthker; 6 grandchildren, Dr. Eric Rottman, Kylie (Matt) Bashura, Katie Rottman, Joe Buthker, Andrew (Layna) Buthker, Alex (Kristen) Buthker; 1 sister-in-law, Carol Rottman; several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; 1 grandson, Patrick Buthker; 3 brothers, Robert, Dr. Ted and Dr. Fritz Rottman. A service celebrating Jack’s life will be held Friday, December 9, at 11:00 AM at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. John DeBoer officiating. Visitation at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W.
