Jack D. VanGelderen's Obituary
Mr. Jack VanGelderen, age 70, of Nunica passed away at Select Specialty Hospital Wednesday, January 3, 2018. He was born February 9, 1947 in Holland to Donald and Cornelia “Connie” (Beukema) VanGelderen. On June 30, 1967 he married Jeanne Vink in Grand Haven, daughter of Leslie and Sylvia Vink.
Jack was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven, where he served as a sound technician. He worked as a Paper Coating Specialist for S.D. Warren, Newton Falls Paper Company and Omya Company before retiring in 2013. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, spending time with his grandchildren. He believed in the value of hard work and passed that on to his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeanne; two daughters, Laura (David) Zwart of Hastings, MN, and Denise (Matthew) Christiansen of Ravenna; seven grandchildren: Jonah, Jacob, Noelle, and Hope Zwart, Jeremy, Jessica, and Kristina Christiansen; brother-in-law, Steven Vink; sister-in-law, Marie VanGelderen; many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Connie; brother, Gerry; In-laws, Leslie and Sylvia Vink.
A joint memorial service with his mother, Connie will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Grand Haven with Rev. Jill VanderWal officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service with a luncheon following. Memorial contributions in memory of Jack may be given to Love in Action.
