Mr. Jack R. Veen's Obituary
Mr. Jack Ray Veen, age 66, passed away early Sunday morning, August 31, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. Jack was born October 8, 1947 to Clarence R. and Lillie M. (McFarland) Veen in Grand Rapids and had resided in Muskegon since he was a young child. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On October 4, 1969 he married the former Shirley June Gerencer and she survives him. Jack and Shirley were long time members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Jack enjoyed the outdoors; being an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. He also loved riding his Harley, but most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to Shirley, his wife of 44 years, Jack is survived by his daughters, Jill Veen and Jackie (Jerry) Hallberg, all of Muskegon; his grandchildren, Jordyn and Riley Hallberg; 4 brothers, Jim (Sharon) Veen of Muskegon, Clare (Maurine) Veen of California, Bill (Sheila) Veen of Muskegon, and Rick (Tracy) Veen of Fremont ; 4 sisters-in-law, Rita Veen, Cathy Szymanski, Rosemarie Kreuter and Delores Fairfield; many nieces, nephews, special Geglio and McFarland cousins, “adopted” family member, Kelci Burr, and the “grand-dogs”, Sage, Kiko and Blaze. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Veen, and his Uncle Bob McFarland. A MEMORIAL MASS will be held 11 AM Friday, September 5, 2014 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Ave., with Rev Fr. Antony Britto as celebrant and Full Military Rites under the auspices of V.F.W. Muskegon County Council. VISITATION with Jack’s family will be Thursday evening from 5-8 PM at The Lee Chapel
