Jack H. Katt's Obituary
Mr. Jack H. Katt, age 88, of Spring Lake, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at his home. He was born September 29, 1921 in Ferrysburg to John P. and Clara (Westhoff) Katt and lived his entire life in the area.
Jack was an electrician, owning and operating Katt Electric Inc. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting skeet, square dancing, playing golf and traveling. He was also a member of the North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club. He served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Navy during WWII.
On December 19, 1942 he married Margaret “Marge” A. VanLeeuwen who survives him along with their 6 children: Mary (Art) Bolt, Mark (fiancee Candace Wheater) Katt both of Spring Lake, Sara (Phil) Rhodes of Overgaard, AZ, Leah (Ned) Junor of Rockford, IL, Jesse (Keith) VanDyke and Sam (Beth) Katt, both of Spring Lake; 8 grandchildren: Ann, James, Matthew, Scott, Peter, Jake, Ben and Jenna. He is also survived by his sister Jeanne Nietering of Ferrysburg and two brothers-in-law, Nelson (Dawn) VanLeeuwen of Hershey, MI, Marvin Bottema of Spring Lake, also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Clarissa Bosma and his brother, Howard Katt.
A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Second Christian Reformed Church of Grand Haven with Rev. Michael Koetje officiating. Visitation with the family will take place 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in honor of Jack to Second Christian Reformed Church Building Fund or a charity of choice.
