Mr. Jackie Edwin Firestone , Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Jackie Edwin Firestone, Sr., age 74, passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 15, 2013. He was born July 17, 1939 in Muskegon to Jasper and Ruth (Chaffee) Firestone. Jack worked for CWC Textron for 35 years before retiring, and was currently working for DTN Leasing Company for the past 9 years. He loved bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, and was a huge Tiger fan. On April 25, 1959 he married the former Velma Arlene Clapp in Muskegon and she survives him along with 3 children, Cindy (Norm) Gale, Randy (Tammy) Firestone both of Columbus, IN, Jack E. (Julie) Firestone, Jr. of Norton Shores; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, William “Butch” (Pat) Firestone of Muskegon, Wayne (Darlene) Firestone of Fruitport; sister, Barbara (Marv) Ritesma of Holland; several nieces and nephews; and a special brother-in-law, Daryl Brott. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Troy Gale; 2 sisters, Roberta and Valerie; half-brother, Edwin Chaffee; and half-sister, Betty Chaffee. A CELEBRATION OF JACK’S LIFE will take place with the family from 6-8 PM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-521. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
