Mrs. Dykstra, Denise, Doug.
I was so sad to here about Mr. Dykstra. I just saw him at Meijer last week, and he had told me about going to Korea. He was a very nice and friendly person. I will miss him. My prayers are with all of you. I do know that his Grandkids meant the world to him!!!!!

Dear Marlene,
I was so sorry to hear from my mother and my sister, Judy, that Jack died. I'll remember his congenial spirit above all. We trust that even amidst the grief of his death, we are able to celebrate his life. We are assured that "nothing, not even death, separates us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord."
In God's eternal love,

Oh! How during this time I want to be there with you. The circumstances surroundng my own health would be the only thing that could and is preventing it. I can't though stop my feelings and remembrances from all the past years from rushing back to the great times we had together. Recent ones stand out such as my three year old upon seeing both of you again screaming in delight "HI! GUYS!". He had Uncle Jack's grin on his face that goes from ear to ear. It just shows we will remember him in our ourselves. How glad I am that we all took the time to have picnics and/or just go swimming at the beach. Seeing just how delighted my children were playing with Colleen and Little Jack warms my heart. They played as if they'd known each other all along. I am so glad we all got to see that together. Uncle Jack will be sorely missed but his memory will live on for years to come.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. With all our love,

Dear Aunt Marlene, Denise and Doug:
We are so sorry for your loss. Just like many others, when I picture Uncle Jack, I see that great smile and remember his gentle manner and kindness. We are sorry we can't be with you this week, but you and all of your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
The picture on the Sytsema Web site of the sail boat leaving the harbor reminded me of a poem that gave us comfort when Dave's father died and perhaps it can do the same for you. You may already be familiar with it:
I am standing upon the sea shore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says; “There, she is gone!” Gone where? Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at that moment when someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!”
There are other eyes watching her, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, “Here she comes!”
And that is dying.(by Henry Van Dyke)

Aunt Marlene, Doug and Denise, Bereavement is so personal that few of us, unless we have experienced it ourselves, can comprehend its grief. Uncle Jack was loved by all and his pleasant vitality and cheerfulness was a continuous inspiration that will so be missed, but yet remembered.
Uncle Jack never fell short in extending love and kindness to me and my family. I loved and admired him greatly. I feel extremely fortunate to have had him in my life.
I hope that strength and courage will help all of you through this rough time and knowing that my love and thoughts are with you. xo Bonnie##imported-begin##Bonnie Christopher##imported-end##
