Jack R. Bishop's Obituary
Mr. Jack Richard Bishop, age 71, was called home to be with his Lord, Monday morning, July 12, 2004, at his home. He was born May 29, 1933 in Muskegon to John & Elsie (Sterenberg) Bishop and had been a life long resident of the area. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had been employed 32 years at SPx Hy-Lift prior to his retirement in 1995. He was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he had served as President of the Congregation, Confirmation Teacher, Sunday school teacher and Council member many times. He was also a member of DeColores EnCristo and Cursillo. On July 12, 1958 he married the former Judith Haapalainen in Dayton, Ohio and she survives him along with 8 children, Julie Cooper of Muskegon, Jerry (Deon) Bishop of Indianapolis, IN, John Bishop of Muskegon, Jack (Janet) Bishop of Mattawan, MI, Jason (Julie) Bishop, Jill (Chris) Gould, Jamie Bishop and Janna Bishop, all of Muskegon; 11 grandchildren and 1 brother, Jerry (Gail) Bishop of Lakeland, FL. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, April. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 1132 W Southern Ave with Pastors John Grostic, Tom Williamson and Vicar Karen Biggerstaff, officiating. VISITATION will be 4-8PM Tuesday (this evening) at

and one-hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery with full Military Rites afforded by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars. For a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider the General Fund of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
