Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Meyers' Obituary
Jacqueline Lee “Jackie” Meyers, age 85, passed away Thursday morning, July 13, 2023. She was born April 21, 1938 in Muskegon to G. Bryce and Evelyn (Erickson) Paxson. Jackie graduated from Muskegon High School in 1956 and received an associate degree in criminal justice from Muskegon Community College. She worked for Sears in the office for 22 years prior to her retirement in 1997. On October 1, 1960, she married Andrew “Mick” Meyers in Muskegon and celebrated life together for 62 wonderful years. She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church where she served in many capacities; Senior Planning Committee, Funeral Luncheons, Food Truck associate, and participated in many Bible Study groups. Jackie was a member of YWCA in her younger years and volunteered on the U.S.S. LST 393 in downtown Muskegon. She enjoyed being in nature, enjoyed wildflowers, camping, traveling to the Upper Peninsula with family and friends, hiking, and watching birds. She also was a great cook and baker and was well known for her delicious sea foam candy. She was an avid sports fan, especially Detroit teams, and loved spending time with her close-knit group of high school friends. Jackie is survived by her husband, Andrew “Mick” Meyers of Laketon Twp.; two children: Lisa (Larry) Joslyn of Twin Lake and Andrew Meyers Jr. of Laketon Twp.; brother, Richard Paxson of Whitehall; sister, Judith Paxson of Alaska; in-laws: Ruthann Hoff, Sam and Karen Meyers; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved great nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Paul and Stacey Miller and their daughters: Kate and Ally. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Fran Paxson and a brother-in-law, Ron Hoff Sr. A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Laketon Bethel Reformed Church Senior Committee or the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
