She was born on August 22, 1953, to Jack and Mabel (Stepan) Wernecke in San Diego, CA. She graduated from El Capitan High School in 1971 and continued her education at Grossmont College pursuing her passion of becoming a nurse. Jackie was compassionate and nurturing by nature, providing excellent care for many over the 45 years she dedicated herself to work as a nurse before retiring in 2017. On July 29, 1972, she married the love of her life, Ken Serrano, in San Diego, CA. Together they cherished 51 years full of endless love, laughter, and many adventures. The two have called many places home over the years including California, Oregon, Alaska, Arizona, and Michigan. She had a passion for cooking, traveling, and reading and loved her house full of grandkids and laughter. Her endless amount of energy and willingness to go to new places and try new things was infectious to anyone lucky enough to know her.
