Jakob Thomas Trutsch's Obituary
Mr. Jakob Thomas Trutsch, age 19, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 7, 2025 in Hudsonville, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on March 17, 2006. Jakob attended Ravenna Schools and graduated from Triumph Academy of Utah. He was raised and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Fruitport and, more recently, found joy attending Holy Fire Fellowship Church in Holland. A true outdoorsman, Jakob loved fishing, hunting, photography, and taking peaceful walks. He was also a gifted athlete; playing baseball, rugby, wrestling, bowling, and roller skating. Jakob’s creativity shone through his talents as both a writer and musician. He wrote music, played piano and saxophone, and had recently begun teaching himself to play the guitar. He met the love of his life, Caiah DeVries, and the two were recently engaged. They shared a deep bond and cherished every moment together. Jakob especially loved to spoil Caiah, and their time together brought him immense joy. Jakob will be missed by his mother and step-father, Anna and Robert Weller; fiancee, Caiah DeVries; siblings, Meagan (Jeremy Lake) Trutsch, Taylor (Chris) Jordan, and Rae (Chris) Crans; nieces and nephew, Lacey, Oliver, and Paislee; grandmothers, Sharon Lutz and Sheryle Weller; Caiah’s family, Patrick and Jessica Leamy, Isaiah DeVries, and Sofia Leamy; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; his best friend who was like a brother, Ashtyn; his beloved dog, Mela; and many dear friends. Jakob was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gary Weller and great-grandmother, Arlene Jakubas. VISITATION will be held from 4-8 PM Thursday, September 11, 2025 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Service, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 3:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2025 at Connection Point Church (2270 S. Mill Iron Road, Muskegon, MI 49442) with Pastor Joel Kluender of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
