James E. Bekkering's Obituary
James Earl Bekkering, age 52, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at a Grand Rapids hospital. He was born February 5, 1960 in Grand Rapids, to Earl Frederick and Leona June (Garner) Bekkering. He married the former Xang Thi Nguyen on June 27, 1981, at Saint Bartholomew Church in Newaygo.
James worked for 30 years for General Motors (Delphi) in Burlingame and in Coopersville as a Job Setter. He also worked at Autocam in Kentwood as a CNC Machinist. James loved deer hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, rebuilding cars, Nascar, camping, traveling, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Xang; daughter, Katrina (Nick) Walters of Annapolis, MD; 2 sons, Kevin Bekkering of Grand Haven and Kris (fiancee Echo Klassen) Bekkering of Great Falls, MT; and mother-in-law, Bay Nguyen of Grand Haven. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The service for James will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Pastor Jerald Poehl officiating. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
