James R. Bos Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. James R. Bos, Sr. age 81, passed away at home on Sunday, January 24, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born in Spring Lake on November 18, 1934 to John and Catherine (Waldorf) Bos. Jim was a member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church where he served as elder and deacon. Prior to his retirement in 1996, he had worked for 37 years at American Store. Jim enjoyed farming, fishing, woodworking, camping and spending time with his family. He had a mission for serving God and had spent over 30 years volunteering at Spring Hill Camp in Evart, MI and 12 months in Gallup, New Mexico. On April 1, 1960 he married Gertrude Bouwman in Lansing, IL and she survives him along with 4 children, John Bos, Brenda (Robert) Dorman, Jim (Cindy) Bos, Jr., and Marlene (Michael) Baker; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jacob (Alice) Bos, John (Charlotte) Bos and Albert (Priscilla) Bos; and his sister, Catherine (Ken) Campbell. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Neil Bos and one sister, Tressa Tanis. His FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Olivet Evangelical Free Church (6790 Harvey St.) with Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8PM on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 and one hour prior to his service at church. MEMORIALS to Spring Hill Camp or Olivet Evangelical Free Missions would be appreciated. Burial will take place at Spring Lake Cemetery. Jim’s family would like to express a special thank-you to Harbor Hospice for their care during his final days.
